<image:caption>Blackguard SMG is proud to present our newest library: Waves Wind Water available exclusively from Pro Sound Effects! We’ve spent the last year traveling to remote and pristine locations in Maine, Florida, Georgia and California to capture the cleanest possible wave, wind and flowing water recordings for your next project. For the first time, we are proud to present these recordings in FuMa Ambisonics (also available in stereo) which will enable the end user to chose both a channel count and perspective for maximum flexibility and immersiveness. Suitable for both traditional linear media as well as emerging VR and AR formats, this library is sure to be a go-to for years to come. We are also pleased to announce a new partnership with Pro Sound Effects, an industry leader known for the most professional and highest quality sound effects available on the market. Waves Wind Water will be the first of several libraries we’ll be releasing in conjunction with PSE in the coming year. We are so honored to join a team consisting of some of the finest recordists in the industry! PSE will provide us with reach and support unlike anything we’ve ever experienced and we couldn’t be more excited for the possibilities. It will be a busy year for us so stay tuned!</image:caption>

<image:caption>After working on a string of projects, we realized that almost every one of them needed the same thing: plant foley. After dragging messy plants, dirt, and bugs into the foley pit several times we hit on an idea - Let's just make one REALLY big mess and record every possible interaction with every plant we could find. The result was over two hundred discrete files (totaling over 3GB) and thousands of performances of high quality plant foley. Plus, a giant mess comprised of completely destroyed plant matter.</image:caption>

      <image:title>SFX LIBRARIES - NXNW CASCADIA 2017</image:title>
<image:caption>This library of environmental recordings is the culmination of three recording expeditions to the stunningly gorgeous Pacific Northwest. We visited a variety of locations ranging from urban Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle to the wild and untamed Olympic Peninsula. We captured dynamically disparate sounds such as a noisy Seattle shipyard and the quietest location in the continental US - deep within the primordial Hoh Rainforest. There are excellent crowd wallas, and contemplative mountain streams. From beaches to mountaintops to luxury high rises no environment was left un-recorded! This is what the Northwest sounds like!</image:caption>

Plus, a giant mess comprised of completely destroyed plant matter. Don't worry - most of it was yard waste put to use for a higher cause. Now the tech specs! All plant sounds were performed on a state of the art foley stage and recorded at 96K/24 bit into a Zaxcom Fusion recorder. We used a stereo pair of Sennheiser 8040s for the stereo files. The mono files were recorded with a Lewitt LCT550(close mic'd and brighter to cut through a mix) and a Sennheiser MKH60 (more distant and a little darker). The resulting sounds were then painstakingly edited for usability in Pro Tools. All files include Pro Tools searchable metadata tags.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Biophony</image:title>
<image:caption>Featuring 38 pristine nature recordings from remote locations across the U.S., Biophony delivers a diverse collection of ambient environmental sounds. Delivered in 24-bit/96kHz FuMa Ambisonics format as well as stereo, this library contains amphibians, sea animals, insects and other wildlife interacting within distinct biomes. Use these sounds to enliven your nature scenes with a rich, authentic ecological backdrop. To capture these sounds, we traveled to four states from Florida to California with the goal of capturing a variety of ecosystems including swamps, ponds, and forests. The result is a dense collection of vibrant wildlife recordings brimming with life. One of the most difficult aspects of the process was finding locations unaffected by human intervention, be it noise pollution or the overarching effects of climate change. Our recording locations became more and more remote as we sought out quiet places. Each sound file is embedded with rich, descriptive metadata to help you find the exact ecosystem and animal recording you need.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Useful Interface</image:title>
<image:caption>Packed with over 750 high-quality recordings, the Useful Interface sound library delivers a diverse collection of tastefully crafted user interface sound effects for your UI needs. Featuring menu actions, expressive gestures, beeps, whooshes, transitions loops and more, this library covers all the bases with subtlety and style. Boost the interactive user experience your game or app UI with practical, satisfying tones. Enhance your films with a unique synthetic edge for sci-fi projects and beyond. The Useful Interface library was recorded and produced by Jason Strawley and Andrew Garraway, employing both synthesized and organic sounds to create their ideal UI toolset: “In my experience, a lot of UI sounds out there are not ideal. Some are zany, cartoony, or over-designed. Others are harsh, discordant, and hard to listen to - closer to an alarm. Of course this is necessary if the message you’re trying to get across is ‘nope’ or ‘danger,’ but it seems like these types of sounds make up a majority. Many are fully synthesized, which is great, but I feel the results are often better if you start with an organic recording as the seed.” – Jason Strawley Flame whooshes, musical instruments and 8-bit chip sounds are among the tools utilized to create the source recordings. They were then ripped apart, layered and modulated, resulting in a wide variety of textures and moods. Additionally, all sounds have been play-tested in Wwise to ensure responsiveness and usability. With 12 expressions in each set, Useful Interface contains no shortage of workable options to bolster your UI and enhance the experience of your project.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Inject intensity with the explosive whooshes, staticky drones, and robotic blips of Interference – a complete electronic sound design toolkit. Add personality to your sci-fi, fantasy, and horror projects with unmatched gritty and dark sound effects of robotic radio static, scans, morphs, risers and more. The Interference library was recorded and produced by Jason Strawley and Andrew Garraway using the SOMA Laboratory Ether recorder and an array of synthesizers ranging from modern, modular synths, to vintage hardware from Moog and Dave Smith Instruments. Created by hand with electromagnetic field recordings and advanced synthesis, this library covers a wide tonal spectrum ranging from surgically precise to warm and analog. With raw recordings captured at 192kHz, this library allows for endless pitching and processing to add distortion, grit, and character to your projects. Designed braams, womps, flutters, and radiation make these sounds ready to add right to your trailers, video games, films, and more. “This library was a work of obsession, and we brought our same level of pristine recording standards that we use for our organic recordings into the electronic world. While other electronic libraries lean into digital ‘in the box’ sounds, we committed to using EM recordings from the real world with their own life and character, and also used hardware that required plenty of live performance of sounds to set this apart from other ‘bleep and bloop’ libraries.” — Jason Strawley Each sound file is embedded with rich metadata to help you find the exact sound effect you need with fast, pinpoint search. Advanced metadata fields ensure compatibility across any database search platform such as Search by PSE, Soundminer, BaseHead, Netmix, Workspace (Pro Tools), Find Tool (Media Composer), Media Bay (Nuendo), Reaper, Adobe Premiere, and beyond.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This brand new collection of ambiences is a huge technological leap forward for us. Presented in Ambisonics, it’s ideal for use in VR or 360 video applications. The real beauty of this format, though, is the flexibility it provides the user to output such disparate formats as stereo, binaural, 5.1 surround, 7.1 surround and more. Furthermore, it’s possible to pick a listener perspective for any of these potential outputs.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Create natural and detailed soundscapes with the urban, oceanic, and woodland sounds of Pacific Northwest. From the bustling traffic and construction on the streets of downtown Seattle, to the ferries and waves on the coasts and islands, inject these immersive ambiences into your stories. To capture these sounds, recordist Jason Strawley and videographer Andrew Garraway traversed through the Pacific Northwest region, recording sounds across cities, forests, islands and coasts in Washington and Oregon. Transport your audience to a wide variety of immersive locations with pristine urban and nature sounds, available in both stereo and ambisonics formats.
“The variety, combined with the recording quality and our meticulous editing, makes this a “go-to” ambience library for any occasion or setting, whether the scene is set in the Pacific Northwest or not.” — Jason Strawley</image:caption>

      <image:title>Anime</image:title>
<image:caption>Create and destroy with the explosive energy of Anime – a go-to anime sound effects library for content creators of all kinds. With quintessential Japanese anime sounds created with a fresh and modern approach and inspired by works like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Dragon Ball Z, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and more, you’ll be equipped with the tools you need to craft an authentic retro cartoon aesthetic. Add character to your projects using expressionistic and emotive sounds inspired by established tropes in anime sound design. The Anime library was recorded and produced by Jason Strawley and Andrew Garraway using Eurorack modular synthesizers and a Moog Matriarch. Created after months of research, trial and error, and honing in on the iconic vintage “anime sound,” this library packs a punch with warm analog zaps, extreme explosions, whooshes, shockwaves, weaponry, movement sounds and more. Add that familiar high-voltage, gritty distortion to your video games, movies, TV shows, animations, videos and beyond. “We spent months trying to hit upon what exactly makes anime sound so distinct. There isn’t a wealth of information out there about how these sounds were created. We knew going into it that the sounds were mostly synthesized, and often less literal than what we’d hear in Western entertainment. Beyond that, all we had to go off of was our in-house smell test of ‘does it sound like anime?’” – Jason Strawley</image:caption>

      <image:title>Anime 2</image:title>
<image:caption>Anime Vol. 2 picks up where the first edition left off, specializing in combat sounds and delivering more dynamic, action-packed sound effects inspired by the golden age of anime. Created using a wide array of analog synthesizers including the addition of the legendary ARP 2600 – a reissue of the classic synth used on legendary anime productions of the 1980s and ‘90s – this thorough collection of whooshes, explosions, zaps, and punches sounds straight out of your favorite Japanese cartoons. All sounds have been mastered to tape to soften the edges and give them an authentic analog character that practically jumps out of the speakers without any extra enhancement. Created by Jason Strawley and Andrew Garraway, Anime Vol. 2 has everything you need to give animation and games a fun, nostalgic vibe or punch up your sound design with exciting new layers. Elevate fight scenes to epic levels with larger-than-life punches, kicks, sword clashes, and impacts augmented by an assortment of cloth movements and other Foley for realism. Enhance your magic and superhero sound design with dynamic power-ups, charge-ups, and energy sounds that hit hard and cut through any mix. Create large-scale battles with surround sound battlefield ambiences, mecha and robot movements, laser blasts, crackling energy swords, and other high-tech weaponry. But it’s not all over-the-top – Anime Vol. 2 also includes common cartoon sound effects like whooshes, character emotes and reactions. The selection of clicks and button presses is perfect for creating user interface sounds or sweetening punches and impacts for extra detail. Each sound file is embedded with rich, UCS-standardized metadata to help you find the exact sound effect you need with fast, pinpoint search. Advanced metadata fields ensure compatibility across any database search platform such as SoundQ, Soundly, Soundminer, BaseHead, Netmix, Workspace (Pro Tools), Find Tool (Media Composer), Media Bay (Nuendo), Reaper, Adobe Premiere, and beyond.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ringtones</image:title>
<image:caption>From today’s smartphones to the flip phones, land lines, and rotary phones of eras past, telephones appear in practically every piece of media set in the modern age – and that makes phone sound effects a must-have for anyone working in movies, TV, games, or audio storytelling. Created by Jason Strawley and Andrew Garraway, Ringtones has you covered with a plethora of modern and vintage rings, notification sound effects, vibration buzzes, and Foley to suit any scene. This diverse collection includes modern-style minimalist rings, legally distinct soundalikes, short notification beeps, novelty MIDI ringtones, dialtones, and more. Many rings come in regular and “worldized” versions, which have been recorded through small speakers to emulate the real-world sound of a phone speaker. The extensive Foley selection includes non-electronic sounds such as vibrations on various surfaces, button presses, handling noises, flip phone opens and closes, extendable antennas, battery compartments, and even a handful of antique rotary phone sounds.</image:caption>

      <image:title>PSE Gen Vol6</image:title>
<image:caption>Blackguard SMG contributed 450 files (or about 1500 sounds) to the sixth iteration of Pro Sound Effects Gen Collection. Highlights include 100k slo-mo recordings including ‘ultrasonic parabolic’ recordings of exotic birds, binaural ambiences and some nice, chunky foley from our vintage tape machine. Plus a ton of other odds and ends. Along with our contribution, several of the best recordists in the industry worked on this library. If you're tired of scrolling through the same sound effects you’ve used for years, it’s time to give your library some love with an infusion of fresh material. Gen Collection Vol. 6 is a comprehensive general library packed with a huge variety of hyper-detailed sound effects from some of our world-class sound artists. Whether you’re a sound designer, video editor, filmmaker, or game developer, this library is the perfect way to expand your sonic toolbox. Vol. 6 offers extensive coverage of the most commonly used sounds, plus a few surprises. Ambiences range from bustling Middle-Eastern cities to wild Florida swamps and immersively designed battlefields. Multi-perspective vehicle recordings bring realism to any production, and Watson Wu’s (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Transformers) automatic rifles collection has your action needs covered. Animal selections include nearly 200 horse recordings, plus a variety of birds and other common animals. There’s also a mountain of Foley, horror sound effects, 8-bit video game sounds, and much more for fresh sonic inspiration for any project.</image:caption>
